Developed by CCHE as part of a parallel studies contract (MEP), this redevelopment project is situated within a contrasting urban fabric at the western entrance to the village of Echallens, in a historic suburb where the topography is characterised by stone retaining walls, and where tiled roofs punctuated by dormer windows stretch across the village. Resting on its commercial plinth, the imposing, postmodern-style volume of the existing building breaks with the continuity of the surrounding built environment.
By creating new spaces, improving accessibility around the beds and providing generous views, the rooms under the sloping roof now offer a standard of living equivalent to that of the first floor, where natural light, comfort and freedom to make the space one’s own combine to benefit both residents and care staff.

A private development of housing complex in the midst of nature and the outskirts of the city. The plot becomes a sun path print with each house placed on a light charming position.
The identical houses are in human scale, soft and welcoming. With an inviting split, the volumes open up blurring the boundaries of indoors and outdoors.
